Common Brand Faults & Troubleshooting

Samsung & LG American Fridge Freezers

  • Fault: Ice maker not dispensing or "arm" stuck.

  • Solution: This is often due to a "secondary" ice-up in the chute. Defrosting the unit usually provides a temporary fix, but a professional heater-kit installation is often required for a permanent solution.

  • Fault: Clicking noise from the back.

  • Solution: Often a sign of a failing start relay or compressor. Turn off the power and call an engineer to prevent damage to the main PCB.

Bosch, Neff & Siemens (BSH Group)

  • Fault: Error Code E15 on Dishwasher.

  • Solution: This indicates water has leaked into the base tray and triggered the flood switch. It needs to be drained and the source of the leak identified.

  • Fault: Washing machine door won't open at the end of a cycle.

  • Solution: Check if there is still water in the drum. If it hasn't drained, the interlock won't release. Clean the filter first.

  • Fault: Washing machine spins but makes a loud "jet engine" noise.

  • Solution: This usually indicates the drum bearings are failing. If caught early, these can be replaced to save the machine.

  • Fault: Oven is "blowing cold air" or not heating up.

  • Solution: Most likely a failed circular fan element. This is a quick and affordable fix that saves you from buying a new cooker.

 Rangemaster & Stoves

  • Fault: Oven works but the clock/timer is flashing.

  • Solution: Most Rangemaster ovens won't heat unless the timer is set. Ensure the clock is not in "Auto" mode.
